New Delhi: The sleuths of Delhi police (Northwest district) have arrested a 19-year-old girl, who has allegedly stolen jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh and cash from a home at Kohat Enclave in Delhi’s Pitampura where she used to work as a “domestic help.”
The accused is identified as Khusboo, a resident of Khanpur village in Samastipur district of Bihar.
According to DCP (Northwest district) Vijayanta Arya, an incident of house theft was reported at Subhash Place police station on May 17. “In the complaint, the woman, who is a resident of Kohat Enclave in Pitampura, reported that she had hired a domestic help named Khusboo about 20 days ago. On May 17, her domestic help left her house on the pretext of some emergency. Soon, the complainant realised that some ornaments and cash, which were kept in the almirah, were missing. Following this, she approached the police,” said the DCP.
“A case was registered and investigation was taken up. During investigation, it was found that no servant verification was done by the complainant so far and she did not have any information, including the address and photo, of the alleged girl,” said the DCP.
“A police team checked various CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity and during analysis of footage, Khusboo was found roaming in the area of I-block at Shakurpur in Delhi. The police team swung into action and the girl was apprehended from her rented house at JJ Colony in Shakurpur area,” she said.
The accused confessed to committing the theft and was arrested in the case. The stolen cash and other items have been recovered from her rented house. She told police that owing to her poor financial condition, she committed the theft, the DCP added.
