A woman in Greater Noida was allegedly killed by her own mother and brother-in-law over a property dispute — two houses and Rs 20 lakh cash that she inherited after her husband passed away.
On July 10, the Surajpur police were informed that a woman in the area was thrashed to death. The police immediately registered a case of murder and initiated probe.
According to the police, after the death of her husband, the woman was planning to get married for a second time. However, her mother was against the marriage, fearing that her property and cash would go to the second husband.
Police said that the dispute over marriage and property had been going on for a few days. During the interrogation, police suspected the mother and the brother-in-law of the deceased to be behind the crime after they repeatedly changed their statements.
After further grilling, the mother and brother-in-law confessed to the murder and stated property as the reason behind the crime.
The mother said that on learning about her daughter’s wish to remarry, she feared that the property would slip away, and plotted the murder of her own daughter with her son-in-law.
Police have recovered the stick used for the murder along with a piece of cloth that had bloodstains of the accused.
